Wilson's fame spread to America in 2014, when she appeared on Showtimes The Affair. She played Alison Lockhart, a young woman who has a difficult relationship with her past, and is drawn to Noah Solloway. Wilson won an award in the form of a Golden Globe in 2015 for Best Actress, Television Series Drama. The show also featured Maura Terney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson stated to British Vogue, "I loved being able to play a character with two sides to the story." Noah sees Alison as a confident, sexually sexy and reckless light. Yet, Alison perceives herself in a different way. On the inside she's dowdy. She added: I do believe America is so moralistic and judging that everything that happens on the show appears to be a shock. Wilson was a part of the show until 2018 after a lot of fans' dismay, though she was vague about the specifics. I did want to leave but I'm not allowed discuss the reasons why she said so during an interview on CBS This Morning interview in August, 2018. A Little Stranger More recently Wilson has been pursuing films. In 2016, she starred in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing who lives in the house and played the cryptic PT Stella character in the 2017 sci-fi rom-com How to Talk to Girls At Parties. Adding more of the genre of horror to her credits, she's slated to star in the British film version to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller that is based upon the novel written by Sarah Waters. Wilson is also executive producing this film.
